NEW
VARIETIES THREATEN POLLINATORS
While at my
local beekeeper lecture I was told that there are now new fruit orchards that
require zero pollinators and, more alarmingly, they are actively discouraged as
modern orchards prefer to spray when they want, pollinators simply get in the
way.
This means
that any pollinator active in an orchard at the most important flowering time
will get zapped by the spray insecticide, fungicide or cocktail when they are
busy doing what bees do best. Carrying the spray back to the hive and so
contaminating the brood.
